AP Studio Art Sample Student Portfolios

2014 Student 1, 3-D Design: Breadth

Score (on a 6-point scale)

5/6

Rationale for Score

• The body of work illustrates a range of 3-D design solutions. Innovative approaches to rhythm and repetition are achieved in small- and large-scale projects, for example, images 27 and 29.

• The student explores a variety of approaches: additive and subtractive techniques, functional and conceptual intent, and occupied/unoccupied space, as can be seen in images 25 and 31.

• The student’s voice and personal vision suggest confidence in the exploration of materials and processes. The work in image 27 transforms a mundane space into an engaging installation using common materials.

•  Although the work may show varying levels of accomplishment, overall it is at a strong level.
